The Salon Owners Podcast: Phorest FM Episode 91 w/ Katt Philipps
Wouldn't it be great to wake up one morning and know exactly what your appointment book looks like 12 months in advance? Having clients fly across borders to get 90-minute facials?
On Phorest FM this week, Killian and Zoe welcome Katt Philipps, owner of Grafin Skin & Beauty, to talk about turning unmanageable appointment books into more than manageable - with little to no marketing budget.
“I was so afraid to ask my clients of something, because they’re always asking me for stuff. But this is the first time I ever took really strong hold of my business, and started asking my clients for stuff. It ended up being such an amazing thing.” -KP
“It’s been absolutely amazing. It scared me at first, because at first, the phone stopped ringing. Because no one was calling me at all hours to, “I got to get it. I got to get in,” because they were already in. So that gave me a ton of time back.” -KP

BBP 031 : Being Booked All The Time by Creating Fiercely Loyal Clients with Katt Philipps
On this week’s episode, we have Katt Philipps joining us to share her journey when she started as a special effects makeup artist after throwing a dart at a map, then becoming a Licensed Esthetician, Master Makeup Artist and founder of Grafin Skin And Beauty by creating fiercely loyal clients. -A.C.
“I think if you treat people the way you would your favorite person in your family, they’ll do the same for you and so that’s been the huge portion of it.” -KP
“The first time you come in to see me, you’re my client. The second time you come to see me, you’re my friend. The third time you come to see me, if you have no place to go at Christmas, you have a place on my table and that’s how I run everything with everyone that walks into my clinic’s doors.” -KP

Stimulating Salon Income In A Time Of Social Distancing
There is no doubt that we are in a different place than we were in February 2020, with many of us having to close our business doors due to health concerns. We want to remain our clients’ first choice when we resume our normal services, and being proactive is the best way to stay ‘top of mind’. Many of us are thinking about what we can do to serve our clients from a distance, and keep some positive cash flow.

Making Charity & The Act Of Giving Your Salon Business Culture
Social consciousness is changing the way consumers spend their money. In a 2010 worldwide survey, nearly 50% of consumers said they were more likely to buy and remain loyal to companies with charity programs1. Consumers want their dollars to go toward causes they believe in, and beauty manufacturers have been significant players in using charitable donations to encourage interest and sales to their products. Can you drive that sort of impact in your salon? Sure you can, but it has to be in your salon business culture.

7 SKINCARE TIPS FOR BEACH VACATIONS
By Katt Philipps
Warm weather is here, and that means for many families a quick jaunt to the beach. For estheticians, it means the season’s first sunburns. Here are a few packing tips that will help you keep your skin looking great until your next facial appointment:
1. Get a new sunscreen. If you’re pulling last year’s sunscreen out of the Ziploc, to take to the pool, it’s important to remember that Chemical Sunscreens degrade by up to 50% of its SPF in just six months of manufacture… Crazy right? And who knows how long it sits in the warehouse or the shelf before you buy it too!!! So make sure you have a new bottle, and it has a hefty dose of mineral sunscreen in it as well (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) because those are the long lasting UVA/UVB and UVC protectors. <Read more>
Let's Talk Skin
By Lauren
Your face is the first thing everyone sees so who wants to walk around with a broken out face or dark circles under their eyes?! Not me that’s for sure. I feel so confident when I have glowing clear skin.
BUT….that wasn’t always the case and I owe that to the amazing Katt at Grafin Skin and Beauty. I met Katt almost a year ago after coming across her spa on Yelp and on a whim I made an appointment. This was the best thing to ever happen to me! Going into my first appointment my face was broken out so bad that I was embarrassed to take off my hat to show her. She made me feel so safe and took so much time with me. We went through EVERYTHING from my eating habits to every ingredient in my makeup. She has been on this journey with me and I rarely ever get a pimple anymore. So I guess we can say she’s just magic hahaha. My acne was being caused by something as simple as the products I was using. I had tried everything in the books from medication to the crazy tricks like rubbing alcohol…YIKES! By changing my products, watching the amount of dairy, chocolate, and fried foods I ate my face has taken a complete 180. <Read More>
